Orphic Trio

 

Orphic Trio is a London based piano trio noted for their colourful and original performances. Their core repertoire consists of the well known and well loved piano trios such as those by Schubert, Beethoven, Haydn, Shostakovich; the trio also like to champion contemporary Baltic composers.

 

In September 2014 the Orphic Trio played two concerts in Lithuania, Vilnius and Kaunas, supported by the Vilnius Music Information Centre. The 1st concert, in the Gaon museum in Vilnius, was attended by the Dutch, Swedish and Japanese Ambassadors. The 2nd concert, in Kaunas University Hall, was a public concert. Both these concerts included music by contemporary Lithuanian composer Anatolius Senderovas and the Shostakovich Piano Trio No 2.

 

On 2nd November 2014, in the David Josefowitz Hall in the Roayal Academy of Music, the Orphic Trio performed a concert of music by Anatolius Senderovas as part of the London Baltic Music Festival. William Routledge performed Songs of Sulamith for cello and piano with the composer himself at the piano.

 

On 8th November 2014 the Orphic Trio performed Stasis by Bronius Kutavicius in a concert featuring Anup Kumar Biswas and the London Lithuanian Chorus. This concert was also part of the London Baltic Music Festival.
