B i o g r a p h y

Background:

From 2001-2006 I studied with Russian cellist Roman Broide (previously Principal cello of the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, and Guest Pricipal cello of the Bolshoi Ballet Orchestra). Previous to that I learned with Francois Rive (between 1996 and 1999), who was at the time No. 2 cello in the RPO.

I studied with David Kenedy at Trinity College of Music between 1991 and 1995 when it was still based at Mandeville Place in Marylebone. Whilst there I won 1st prize in the Student Union Chamber Music Competition and was awarded the Nick Roth Memorial Prize for Outstanding Achievement.

Career:

My career has involved playing with illustrious symphony orchestras:

London Philharmonic Orchestra

London Sinfonietta

Royal Ballet Sinfonia

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra

I have also worked with smaller scale groups:

Chameleon Arts Orchestra

Keld Ensemble

London Chamber Orchestra

London Pro Arte

Sinfonia Verde

I have performed in some of the worlds greatest venues. Some of most memorable musical experiences have been at:
Carnegie Hall, New York (LPO/Kurt Masur)
Philharmonie, Berlin (LPO/Kurt Masur)
Gasteig, Munich (LPO/Kurt Masur)
Glyndebourne Festival (LPO/Jerzy Belahlavek)
Symphony Hall, Boston (LPO/Kurt Masur)
Esplanade Arts Centre, Singapore (LPO/Kurt Masur)
Royal Albert Hall, London (RPO/Daniele Gatti & LPO Kurt Masur)
Royal Festival Hall, London (LPO/Haitink, Masur, Gergiev, Perlman, Rostropovich, Ades, Elder, Vernon Handley, Berglund, Ivan Fisher)

Film soundtracks I have played on:
Moulin Rouge
The Cell
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Da Vinci Code
Iron Man 3

I have always loved chamber music and in this genre I have been cellist in:
The prize winning Adelphi Trio (1994-1997)
Emerald String Quartet (1993-2000)
Grosvenor Quartet (2011- )
Quartano (2011- )
Orphic Trio (2014- )
I have also worked extensively with pianist Angus Cunningham (1996-2008) giving recitals in and around the west London area.

Much as I have enjoyed my work with the symphony orchestras, I have a desire to reach the audience in a more personal way. I hope to attain this goal through smaller scale music making. I established this website in order to help me achieve those ambitions.
